Who we are

SemaSoma is operated by Legacy AI Group, trading as SemaSoma. Legacy AI Group is the data controller for the personal data described here, which means we decide what data is collected and why. For any privacy question or request, email info@futurenomic.org.

What we collect, why, and on what basis

• Account details — email address, and the name and profile picture Google shares if you use Google sign-in. Used to create and secure your account. Basis: performance of our contract with you.
• Learning data — saved phrases, completed lessons, XP, streak days, review queue, leaderboard score. Used to provide the service and sync it across your devices. Basis: contract.
• Text you translate — the phrase you type is sent to our AI provider to produce a translation and audio. We do not store it unless you save it to your phrasebook. Basis: contract.
• Entitlement records — which plan you hold, its status and renewal date, and daily translation counts used to apply free-tier limits. Basis: contract and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse.
• Support messages — what you send us and our replies. Used to help you. Basis: contract and legitimate interests.
• Usage and technical data — server logs, IP address, device and browser information, aggregate page views and error reports. Used for security, fraud prevention, debugging and improving the product. Basis: legitimate interests.
• Email reminders — if you opt in, your email address and chosen language, used to send practice reminders. Basis: consent; you can unsubscribe from any reminder.

Where we must keep records for tax, accounting or legal reasons, the basis is compliance with a legal obligation.

If you don't sign in

SemaSoma works without an account. In that case your phrasebook, streak and progress are kept in your browser's local storage on that device only — we never see them. Sign in and that local data is copied into your account so it follows you across devices.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for advertising. We share it with these categories of recipient:

• Merchant of Record — Paddle.com — Paddle is the Merchant of Record for all our orders and receives the data needed for the sale of SemaSoma Plus, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, invoicing and refunds. Paddle handles payment details directly; we never see your card number.
• Service providers — cloud hosting, database and authentication, AI translation and text-to-speech providers, transactional email delivery, and error/analytics tooling. They process data only on our instructions.
• Professional advisers — legal and accounting advisers where needed.
• Authorities — where we are required to disclose data by law, or to protect our rights or users' safety.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where data leaves the UK or EEA we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep it

Account and learning data are kept while your account exists and deleted or anonymised when you close it or after a long period of inactivity. Server logs are kept for a short retention window for security and debugging. Records connected to a purchase are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Generated pronunciation audio is cached against the phrase, not against who requested it.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, row-level access controls so accounts can only reach their own data, and restricted administrative access.

Your rights

• Access a copy of your data, correct it, or ask us to delete it or restrict how we use it.
• Ask for your data in a portable format, or object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
• Withdraw consent for reminder emails at any time.
• Complain to your data protection supervisory authority if you are unhappy with how we handled your request.
• Remove any saved phrase yourself from the home screen, or use SemaSoma signed out.

Cookies and local storage

We use essential cookies and browser storage only — to keep you signed in, remember your chosen languages, and hold guest progress and daily translation counts on your device. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear this storage in your browser settings at any time, though signing in again will be required.

Children

SemaSoma is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
